reflection

Hi there!

I am quite ready for the pre-test tomorrow. Pretty much the theorems are straight forward. I think to succeed in this unit, I must be able to visualize the diagrams in many angles as possible because every time you find out something, its a clue to the the proof. I just need to continue on practicing to be better in geometry and proving.

Honestly, Proving is one of my weakness but I've been through this unit before, so i should be optimistic for the upcoming test!

Good luck everyone!

I am struggling

I am quite struggling with these topics:

  • unit Circle topic.
  • how you get the sin, cos & tan of the theta. I don't know how to deal with cos and tan. Like i cant solve this: cos^2(theta)=cos(theta) where 0degrees is greater than or equal to theta and less than or equal to 360. something like that. or this one: 3cos(theta)-1=-2cos(theta)
  • ambigious triangle.
  • As simple as getting the vertex. I am just weak with getting the vertex.
That's it. I think.

Linear Inequalities.

last monday, before we went on holidays we learned about One Linear Inequalities.
teacher said, we could represent each linear inequalities by these representation:

this means that > with out the underscore at the bottom that 6 is included in the solution
and for y >(with the underscore at the bottom) 6 means that it is not part of the solution

she gave a couple of examples like this..

normally its always easy to figure out the right region when you use (0,0)
last example the teacher gave us was this one:

the intersection of these two inequalities is where they both intersect in this case they intersect at the region where you see both colours are present.
That's it. next scribe is Camille : P

Day 2. Sept. 04, 2008

basically today, we did 2 main things. First, Mr. K told us how we are supposed to make our own book for this class. he told the class that this whole blog idea is part of the class participation and each one of us will get to be a scribe (or whatever you call it) for at least 2-3 times. and Mr. K did a good job in orienteering us about how to go around this blogger, which buttons to click, how to get the smart board software (awesome!!) and so on... this idea is cool because it's like a class effort to help each other out.

second main thing was we recalled important terminologies that would be used often in this course. here's the brief summary of our notes today:

Term = parts of an algebraic expression or series separated by + or - signs, or the parts of a sequence separated by commas.
ex. 2xy, 3, 5a3 (5acube)

Monomial =
An algebraic expression with exactly one term.

Binomial = An algebraic expression with exactly 2 terms.

Trinomial =
An algebraic expression with exactly 3 terms.

Polynomial = An algebraic expression with one or more expression.

Degree of a term = the exponent of the variables in the term and with more than one variable the degree is the sum of the exponent.

Degree of a polynomial = the highest degree of any term in the polynomial.

Domain = All permissible inputs for a function.

Range = All permissible outputs for a function.

Quadratic Function = its a function of second degree.

and that's all for today. don't forget that we have that homework on The Garden Problem. it's in that spreadsheet in Google!
